About Canadian Water Technologies:
Canadian Water Technologies designs, builds, installs, and services high-purity water treatment systems for industrial, commercial, health care, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical clients across Canada.
Our Calgary team builds complete water treatment systems using technologies including reverse osmosis (RO), ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration, deionization (DI), and electrodeionization (EDI).
We're looking for an experienced Journeyperson Plumber, Pipefitter, or skilled industrial piping professional to join our fabrication team and help build these systems in our Calgary shop.
Role Description:
This is a hands-on shop-based position focused on the piping, mechanical assembly, and fabrication of packaged water treatment systems.
You'll work from P&IDs;, drawings, and fabrication sketches to assemble piping, pumps, valves, instrumentation, supports, and other components into complete treatment skids and systems.
If you have solid piping and mechanical skills and enjoy detailed fabrication work where you can see a project come together from individual components to a finished system, this could be a great fit.
What You'll Do:
- Build and install piping systems using PVC, CPVC, stainless, and other materials common to high-purity water treatment.
- Perform PVC solvent welding to CWT standards.
- Assemble valves, pumps, fittings, supports, instrumentation, and skid components.
- Interpret P&IDs;, layout drawings, isometrics, and fabrication sketches.
- Support the construction of ancillary brackets and mounting hardware.
- Keep the fabrication area clean and organized and maintain neat, orderly work habits.
- Document daily work progress and support project logs.
- Prepare project skids for shipment, including protection and crating, as required.
- Assist with inventory checks and material handling.
Position Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Plumber or equivalent trade certification.
- Experience with mechanical assembly and piping in industrial or commercial environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada and hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable abstract.
What We’re Looking For:
- Journeyperson Plumber, Pipefitter, Steamfitter/Pipefitter, or equivalent trade experience.
- Experience building or installing piping systems in an industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or process environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills.
- Experience with PVC and CPVC piping and solvent welding.
- Ability to read drawings, schematics, P&IDs;, or similar technical drawings.
- Experience working with pumps, valves, fittings, supports, and mechanical equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing clean, accurate work.
- A practical approach to troubleshooting and solving fabrication or installation problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication/project team.
Nice to Have:
Experience in any of the following would be an asset, but isn't required:
- Water or wastewater treatment systems.
- Reverse osmosis or other membrane treatment systems.
- Packaged equipment or skid fabrication.
- Stainless steel process piping.
- Instrumentation and process equipment.
- Industrial, mining, oil and gas, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or health care environments.
Work Environment
This position is primarily based in CWT's Calgary fabrication shop.
The work is hands-on and may involve lifting, material handling, use of hand and power tools, and working around industrial equipment.
Occasional short-term travel within Western Canada is required, typically for periods of up to one week, to support installation, commissioning, or service work.
Some client sites may require drug and alcohol testing or a criminal record check.
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada and hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract.
Why Join CWT?
At CWT, you'll have the opportunity to work on complete, custom-built water treatment systems rather than performing the same installation every day. Our projects combine piping, mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and advanced water treatment technologies into systems that are built in our shop and installed for clients across Canada.
You'll work alongside engineers, fabricators, technicians, and project teams and have the opportunity to expand your experience with specialized water treatment equipment and process systems.
