Junior Mechanical Engineer / EIT – HVAC & Building SystemsOverview

Easton Industrial is seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Calgary team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or early-career EIT looking to build hands-on experience in HVAC and mechanical building systems within a consulting engineering environment.

Working alongside experienced engineers and other disciplines, you will contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical systems for a variety of projects. You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, including system design, calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimating, construction administration and site reviews.

The ideal candidate has strong engineering fundamentals, excellent problem-solving skills and a genuine desire to learn and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

- Assist with the assessment and design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
- Perform building load calculations, equipment sizing and other mechanical engineering calculations
- Assist in preparing engineering drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates and contract documents
- Support mechanical system design and drafting using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Assist with equipment selection and preparation of mechanical equipment schedules
- Coordinate mechanical designs with other engineering disciplines, architects, contractors and project stakeholders
- Participate in project and design coordination meetings
- Conduct site reviews to assess existing conditions, construction progress and compliance with project documents




- Assist with reviewing shop drawings, RFIs and other construction documentation
- Support tendering, contract administration and inspection activities
- Assist with energy audits and energy modelling where applicable
- Maintain accurate project documentation and engineering records
- Work closely with senior engineers and project managers to meet project schedules, budgets and technical requirements
- Contribute ideas and practical solutions while developing your technical and professional engineering skills

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA, or eligible for registration
- 0–2 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience; new graduates are encouraged to apply
- Understanding of HVAC and mechanical building-system fundamentals
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to manage priorities and contribute to multiple projects




- A positive attitude, initiative and willingness to learn

Assets The following would be considered an asset but are not required:
- Previous internship, co-op or consulting engineering experience
- Experience with HVAC, plumbing or fire protection design
- Experience with building load analysis software
- Experience preparing engineering reports, specifications or cost estimates
- Familiarity with energy modelling or energy audits
- Knowledge of applicable building codes and engineering standards
- Previous construction site or field review experience
