Overview

We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join our team and contribute to the design and manufacturing of custom products, sheet-metal components, and mechanical assemblies. The successful candidate will use SolidWorks to develop 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and production documentation, while gaining hands-on experience with sheet-metal fabrication, CNC processes, and design for manufacturability.

Experience with Lantek CAM and turret press operations is considered an asset. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and comfortable working closely with engineering, production, and manufacturing teams to develop practical, accurate, and cost-effective solutions.

Here's What You’ll Do

- Create advanced 3D models, 2D part drawings, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SolidWorks, in preparation for manufacturing and prototyping.
- Develop CNC Programs with Lantek for turret press production, primarily for sheet-metal fabrication, optimizing material usage and manufacturability.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing and sales team to ensure designs are practical, cost effective, and optimized for fabrication and assembly.
- Produce shop drawing packages and develop detailed customer models with the appropriate technical information, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.

Here’s What You Will Bring:

- Associated degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.




- 1+ years working in the metal fabrication industry.
- Working experience of basic machine shop methods and procedures.
- Good organizational skills.
- Advanced 3-D modelling skills using SolidWorks, with a proven ability to work with large assemblies and complex parts.
- Advanced 2-D skills in the creation and revision of parts, including accurate dimension and tolerance of complex parts and assemblies.
- Strong document management capabilities – history of working in document controlled and/or regulated environment.
- Ability to perform well with minimum supervision.
- Strong SolidWorks and MS Office skills.
- Ability to effectively promote safe work practices and motivate others to follow your lead.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and organization.
