Position Overview

Avenege is seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator to support the day to day operation of our IT environment. This role focuses on Microsoft 365 administration, device management, user support, and overall system reliability.

Cybersecurity monitoring and advanced threat response are managed by our third-party Managed Service Provider (MSP) and MDR partner. The successful candidate will work closely with our MSP to ensure internal policies, controls, and best practices are effectively implemented and maintained.

This is an onsite position based in our Calgary corporate office or our Peace River operation headquarters, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be comfortable working in-office and be comfortable with travel occasional travel to other locations as required to support operational needs. This position reports to the Director of Design and Implementation, located in Peace River Alberta.

Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000 + Benefits

This position will be based out of Peace River or Calgary, Alberta.

This is an in-office role, no remote or hybrid arrangements are available.

What You'll Own (Internal IT)





- User provisioning and deprovisioning
- License assignment and Microsoft 365 administration (Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Group and access management
- MFA setup and support
- Laptop and mobile device deployment
- Intune enrollment and compliance enforcement
- Asset tracking and hardware lifecycle coordination
- Tier 1 / Tier 2 troubleshooting (email, VPN, connectivity, permissions)
- Documentation of recurring issues and solutions
- Server and backup monitoring support
- Partnership with our MSP on policy implementation and controls

What the MSP Owns (Security & Advanced Support)

- 24/7 security monitoring (SOC)
- Threat detection and response
- Vulnerability assessment and patching
- M365 security posture review
- Security log review and analysis

Qualifications & Requirements

- 1 to 3 years of IT support, service desk or junior systems administration experience
- Experience administering Microsoft 365
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, VPN, DHCP)
- Robust troubleshooting skills
- Organized, documentation-focused mindset
- Microsoft certifications (MS-900, AZ-900) are an asset
- Valid driver's license; willingness to travel to our various branches and offices is required
