Junior Video Editor & Content Assistant - Part-Time / Casual
We’re looking for a creative and motivated Junior Video Editor & Content Assistant to support a content creator with 300K+ followers on Instagram, with content also published across TikTok and Snapchat.
This role is ideal for someone who is early in their career, building their portfolio, or looking for hands-on experience working directly with an established creator.
You do not need years of professional experience. We are more interested in finding someone with a strong creative eye, good instincts for social media, willingness to learn, and the ability to understand and adapt to the creator’s style.
The position will begin on a temporary/casual basis, with the potential to grow into a larger and more ongoing role based on fit, performance and individual strengths.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Attend approximately 3-5 hours of in-person batch content shooting per week
- Help film short-form lifestyle and social media content
- Edit approximately 4 short-form videos per week
- Work primarily with footage that has already been reviewed and roughly chopped/selected by the creator
- Follow provided references and learn the creator’s established editing style
- Edit content for platforms including Instagram Reels, TikTok and Snapchat
- Add captions, text, music, sound effects, pacing, transitions and other editing elements where appropriate
- Stay aware of current social media trends, editing styles and content formats
- Suggest ideas or editing improvements when you see opportunities to strengthen the content
- Help keep footage and content organized
- Complete revisions based on feedback
Who This Role Is Best For This could be a great fit if you are:
- A newer video editor looking to build a stronger portfolio
- A student or recent graduate in media, marketing, communications, film or a related field
- A self-taught editor who has strong work but limited professional experience
- Someone who spends a lot of time on Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat and naturally understands what content feels current
- Interested in learning more about the creator and social media industry
- Looking for hands-on experience and guidance while developing your skills
- Interested in potentially growing into a broader role over time
We are happy to nurture and train the right person. You do not need to know everything coming into the role, but you should be curious, proactive and open to feedback. What We’re Looking For
- A good visual eye and sense of pacing
- Basic to intermediate short-form video editing skills
- Understanding of Instagram Reels, TikTok and other short-form platforms
- Ability to study reference content and recreate a similar feel
- Interest in social media trends, creator content and digital culture
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliability and good communication
- Ability to meet weekly deadlines
- Willingness to receive feedback and continuously improve
- Creative initiative and an interest in learning what makes content perform well
Experience with lifestyle, wellness, fitness, beauty, food, fashion or travel content is an asset, but not required.
What We’ll Provide The creator will generally provide:
- Content concepts and/or scripts
- Reference videos and editing direction
- Selected or roughly chopped footage
- Feedback and guidance to help you understand the creator’s style
- Opportunities to work on content distributed to a large existing audience
Because the creator already has an established audience of 300K+ Instagram followers, this is also an opportunity to build your portfolio using real content that will be actively published and seen across multiple platforms. Portfolio A portfolio is required, but we are not expecting an extensive skilled portfolio.
This can include
- Personal editing projects
- School projects
- Videos created for friends,
small businesses or creators
- TikToks, Reels or other social content you have edited
- Spec/sample edits that demonstrate your style
We care more about your potential, taste and understanding of content than the number of clients you have previously worked with. Future Growth For the right person, this role has the potential to evolve over time.
Depending on your interests, abilities and strengths, future responsibilities could include:
- Social media account management
- Content scheduling and publishing
- Trend and content research
- Helping develop content ideas
- Organizing content calendars
- Community or social media support
- Creator and brand administrative tasks
- General assistant responsibilities
- Supporting additional business and content projects
Our goal is to find someone who can grow alongside the creator and gradually take on more ownership as they develop.
Requirements
- Portfolio or examples of editing work
- Availability for approximately 3-5 hours of in-person batch filming per week
- Capacity to edit approximately 4 short-form videos per week
- Reliable communication and consistent turnaround times
- Access to your own editing software and computer
- Comfortable working collaboratively and receiving feedback
When Applying
Please include
- A link to your portfolio or examples of your work
- A brief introduction about yourself
- Any relevant editing or content experience
