Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team and ensure the well-being and comfort of our animals. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, safe, and caring environment for pets and providing excellent customer service to pet owners. The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, and capable of handling physically demanding tasks with a positive attitude.

Duties

- Assist with daily cleaning and sanitation of kennels, cages, and common areas to uphold hygiene standards
- Feed and water animals according to established schedules and protocols
- Monitor animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns to veterinary staff or management
- Keep a detailed account of animal health and wellbeing
- Provide compassionate care, including walking, socializing, and comforting animals as needed
- Assist pet owners with check-in and check-out processes, answering questions about animal care both in person and over the phone
- Perform heavy lifting when necessary, such as moving supplies or assisting with larger animals




- Maintain organized storage of supplies and ensure all equipment is in good working order
- Support team members in emergency situations or when handling difficult animals

Requirements

- Prior experience in customer service or animal care is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Applicants must have a driver's license and access to a vehicle as we are located outside of city bus routes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and pet owners alike
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and cleanliness
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends if needed
