MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR (FACILITIES)(BAND LEVEL 6)

(Contractual Position to July 31, 2028)

DUTIES

This role is responsible for receiving, reviewing, prioritizing, and processing maintenance requests through the CMMS, generating work orders for infrastructure repairs, preventative maintenance, and facility improvement projects, and ensuring that all work orders include complete scope, safety, scheduling, and documentation requirements. The position monitors work orders through to completion while maintaining accurate records and close-out documentation.

Responsibilities also include coordinating daily maintenance activities involving internal trades staff and external contractors and maintaining a thorough understanding of service contract scopes and contractor performance expectations. The role requires conducting job site safety analyses and hazard assessments before work begins, monitoring the quality, schedule, safety, and compliance of all maintenance activities, inspecting completed work, and directing corrective actions when necessary. In addition, the position coordinates repairs with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI) for landlord-maintained assets, plans maintenance activities to minimize disruption to academic programming and campus operations, and ensures all project documentation is accurately maintained within the CMMS.

The role also supports the oversight of building automation systems, monitors system performance, identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability, and coordinates the maintenance and optimization of building control systems with contractors and stakeholders. Furthermore,



it involves active participation in occupational health and safety committees, inspections, and audits, contributing to hazard assessments and incident investigations.

Qualifications

Experience (1-2 years) in facilities operations, building maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field; graduation from a multi-year post-secondary technical program in engineering technology, facility maintenance, or a related discipline. Completion of a recognized trades certification, technical diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; commitment to safety and quality workmanship; knowledge of building and fire codes, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, WHMIS, and environmental regulations;

experience preparing reports and maintenance records using computerized systems; possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

SALARY: $56,767 to $66,592 per annum (NAPE Local 7850)
