About the Role
Lotus Co-operative Homes is a non-profit housing co-operative committed to providing safe, affordable, and well-maintained housing within a diverse and inclusive community.
We are seeking a Maintenance & Property Coordinator to support the day-to-day maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and operation of our property. The position serves as a primary on-site contact for members, contractors, and maintenance requests and reports to the Housing Manager and Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs in units, common areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete preventative maintenance.
- Inspect buildings and vacant units for maintenance, safety, security, leaks, and pest concerns.
- Prepare vacant units for occupancy.
- Coordinate contractor access and monitor work for quality and completion.
- Maintain maintenance supplies, equipment, work orders, inspection records, and service records.
- Maintain cleanliness of common areas and assist with seasonal grounds maintenance.
- Identify issues requiring specialized contractors and assist with obtaining quotes.
- Assist with maintenance reporting for management and the Board.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of building, facilities, or property maintenance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of building maintenance and preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and identify when specialized contractors are required.
- Solid organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
Assets
- Experience in housing co-operatives, non-profit housing, or residential property management.
- WHMIS and First Aid/CPR certification.
- Knowledge of fire safety systems.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
Physical Requirements Ability to perform manual labour, including lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs), climbing ladders and stairs, and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
