Are you the one we’re looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Maintenance Worker who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.

The Maintenance Worker delivers maintenance and property services across Wesley facilities in Hamilton and Halton. Reporting to the Manager, Property Services, the position completes work orders, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and assigned projects while supporting the safe and effective operation of Wesley facilities.

This is a unionized, full-time permanent position, working 38 hours per week. The rate of pay is $20.66 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

1.



Perform work in Hamilton and Halton assigned by the Manager to ensure the effective, efficient operation of the portfolio within the general policies and guidelines of Wesley, and best practices of the sector.
2. Complete minor maintenance and repair tasks under direction of the Manager and Property Services Coordinators, including but not limited to assembling/repairing furniture, completing dump runs, patching drywall, replacing fixtures, painting and finish repairs, basic plumbing, and installation and removal of air conditioning units.
3. Follow procedures for utilization of the online maintenance tracking software to receive, fulfill and report on assigned tasks in a timely manner.
4. Participate in other record keeping procedures as required.
5. Communicate with Manager or Coordinator when work may require external contractors and assist with providing contractors access to facilities when needed.
6. Assist the Manager with health & safety requirements as needed including but not limited to maintaining safety equipment, monthly inspections and fire drills.
7. Comply with all of Wesley’s policies and procedures, government regulations and industry standards related to property services, and report any risks to the Manager.

Follow all health and safety procedures and monitoring and reporting mechanisms in order to promote and ensure the safety and well-being of staff, clients and volunteers.

What you will bring:
1. High school diploma/GED required.
2. Minimum 3 years of relevant building maintenance experience.
3. Ability to work adaptable schedule including occasional evenings and weekends based on operational requirements.
4. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, climbing ladders, and lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
5. Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
