Position Overview:
As an experienced Marketing professional, the Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that enhance brand positioning, customer acquisition, and audience engagement across digital, content, and event channels. They bring expertise in brand management, digital marketing, content creation, and campaign execution, leveraging data to optimize marketing efforts and drive measurable results.
This role requires a leader with strong decision-making abilities and excellent communication skills to plan and manage marketing initiatives while leading a high-performing marketing team. The Marketing Manager also oversees key external relationships with agencies and media partners and manages budget forecasting to maximize return on investment.
This is a hands-on role. In addition to leading and directing the team's work, the Marketing Manager is expected to personally write and edit copies for email and social campaigns, and to produce basic creative and video edits using standard tools to support day-to-day content needs.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop, manage and execute integrated marketing strategies
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, integrated marketing strategy to drive brand awareness, audience engagement, and revenue growth across all digital and offline channels.
- Ensure consistent brand positioning and messaging, reinforcing Ivey Publishing’s global reputation in business education.
- Oversee the execution of integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment across digital, content, events, and traditional marketing.
- Work with digital agencies to implement and optimize advertising campaigns.
- Collaborate with team specialists to develop and execute digital marketing strategies, including content creation, email and social media campaigns, virtual events, and e-commerce promotions.
- Work closely with business development and leadership teams to align marketing initiatives with strategic growth and faculty engagement efforts.
- Optimize customer acquisition strategies by leveraging marketing data, automation, and audience segmentation.
2. Budgeting, Forecasting, & Performance Optimization
- Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation and strategic investment.
- Lead budget forecasting efforts, analyzing past performance, seasonal trends, and revenue impact to optimize resource allocation.
- Conduct ROI analysis on media buys, digital campaigns, and event sponsorships, ensuring marketing initiatives deliver measurable value.
- Oversee campaign tracking, KPI monitoring, and reporting, delivering actionable insights to optimize marketing impact.
- Implement marketing automation tools and CRM segmentation strategies to enhance engagement and retention.
3.Cross-Functional Collaboration, & Customer Insights
- Collaborate closely with business development, customer experience, and faculty relations teams to ensure marketing aligns with customer needs and revenue goals.
- Oversee customer feedback surveys in collaboration with the Associate Director, Business Development, leveraging insights to refine messaging, digital experiences, and customer journey optimizations.
- Ensure marketing and communications efforts support broader faculty engagement, global outreach, and Ivey Publishing’s strategic positioning.
4. Content, Communications, and Brand Positioning Oversight
- Oversee management of content creators and agencies, ensuring a steady pipeline of relevant, high-impact content.
- Oversee and ensure effective execution of a long-term content calendar, balancing evergreen content, product marketing, and event-driven messaging for sustained brand impact.
- Plan and coordinate content across owned, paid, and earned media channels, ensuring strategic alignment and visibility.
- Ensure brand consistency across web, email, social media, and event marketing, developing creative assets and messaging that align with Ivey Publishing’s global reach.
- Personally write, edit, and refine copy for email campaigns, social media posts, and other marketing collateral, ensuring tone, clarity, and brand voice are consistent - while also directing external writers/agencies where needed.
- Produce basic creative assets and video edits (e.g., using tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, or similar) to support day-to-day content needs, without reliance on specialized design/video staff for routine requests
5. Digital Marketing, Media Buying, Events and Conversion Optimization
- Oversee all digital marketing efforts, including website management, SEO/SEM, paid media, social media, email marketing, and marketing automation.
- Lead event marketing strategy, ensuring that conferences, webinars, and case workshops are effectively promoted and integrated into the broader marketing plan.
- Develop effective strategies to optimize customer journey touchpoints, ensuring lead nurturing strategies from initial interest to adoption (welcome sequences, engagement emails, retargeting campaigns, and win-back campaigns).
- Oversee website performance to ensure optimization of conversion rates, page activity and customer flow reviewing regular reports and metrics.
- Oversee media buying strategy, managing relationships with advertising agencies to optimize spend for maximum brand exposure and conversion.
6. Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing marketing team, ensuring clear roles, priorities, and growth opportunities.
- Manage, develop and coach the Marketing team, oversee activities including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, professional development, and performance reviews.
- Offer mentorship and support to Marketing team in navigating challenges or escalated situations.
Qualifications: Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in progressively responsible marketing roles, with a focus on brand strategy, digital marketing, and audience engagement.
- Proven track record in conversion optimization (CRO), paid media, and lead generation.
- Experience managing media buying, digital advertising, and agency/vendor relationships.
- Strong budget management and ROI analysis skills to optimize marketing spend.
- Experience in higher education, publishing, or B2B marketing is an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with team members, agency and media partners and other stakeholders.
- Proven ability to oversee complex, multi-channel marketing efforts, from content creation to digital strategy and event marketing.
- Strong copywriting and editing skills, with the ability to draft and refine compelling email and social media content; working knowledge of basic creative and video editing tools sufficient for day-to-day content production (not expert-level design/video skills required).
- Ability to balance big-picture planning with hands-on optimization.
- Ability to manage a high volume of demands, with autonomy and superior decision-making skills.
- Solid leadership and team management skills, with experience leading marketing and communications professionals.
- Ability to motivate and mentor team members to improve performance and achieve team KPIs.
- Data-driven approach, with proficiency in Google Analytics, Salesforce, and marketing automation platforms.
- Strong project management and budgeting skills, ensuring effective resource allocation.
