WorkSafeBC's Prevention Services division plays a critical role in providing compassionate and responsive service towards our mission of preventing workplace injury, illness, and death and supporting workers through fair compensation and effective rehabilitation. Working under direction of the Director, OHS Investigations, as the Manager, Occupational Health, and Safety (OHS) Investigations, you'll be responsible for managing the operations of the OHS Investigations team within the Prevention Services Division. In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to assigned staff and be responsible for managing the activities of the assigned area to ensure the effective delivery of services and implementation of WorkSafeBC and divisional policies and programs.

This includes providing direction to and leadership of both prosecution and regulatory investigation teams. You'll help ensure B.C. workers go home safely at the end of their workday. At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

In partnership with department leadership, establish and maintain investigative processes while ensuring compliance with quality assurance and quality control. Ensure the effective delivery of OHS Investigations by developing and implementing departmental business plans to support and achieve the Division's strategic objectives and performance goals. Ensure that WorkSafeBC and divisional policies, procedures and standards are appropriately implemented within assigned area.

Provide advice, guidance, and direction to assigned staff and others on policies, business plans and operational matters relating to OHS Investigations, including enforcement. Plan and implement business improvement projects within the department/Prevention Division. Be responsible for risk management and ensure investigative processes are reviewed with a continuous improvement approach.





Develop and maintain strong partnerships with external stakeholders including the RCMP and municipal police agencies, Coroner's Office, and other investigative and regulatory agencies. Promote a service-oriented approach in providing services to external and internal customers. Participate as a member of the divisional management team in strategy development and business planning activities and provide input into business initiative development, planning and implementation as required.

Plan and lead the implementation of business improvement projects within the department and Prevention Division. Consent and successfully meet the Criminal Records Check clearance A university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. criminology, law, health science, occupational hygiene or occupational health & safety) or diploma in relevant discipline coupled with certification in occupational health & safety risk management in a regulated environment. A minimum of five years of work experience in a leadership role overseeing investigation and enforcement matters.

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant provincial and federal legislation and knowledge of investigative practices. Sound knowledge and practical application of The Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation in BC.
