Ready to learn how a transportation business really runs - from the inside? We're hiring a hands-on Manager of Operations &

- Business Development to work directly with senior leadership, take ownership of daily operations, and help grow our client base.

Location: Vaughan, Ontario (Hwy 7/Dufferin) - fully in person

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

After-hours availability: Required for urgent operational issues, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Travel: Approximately 2–4 trips per month to Montreal, Edmonton, and Calgary; company-paid

Reports to: CEO

Salary: CAD 80,000–120,000 (based on skills and experience)

Work authorization: Must be authorized to work in Canada About the Company The employer is an established Canadian logistics and container-services company, operating more than 200 power units and over 800 chassis across four offices in Canada.

Their strategically located yards sit near key rail terminals in Mississauga, Montreal, Calgary, and Edmonton, backed by approximately 15 acres of secured short- and long-term storage capacity nationwide.

It's a practical, fast-moving environment where operations, customer service, dispatch, fleet activity, and commercial decisions are closely connected. The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role for a logistics skilled who wants to learn how to run a transportation business from the inside.

The role is approximately 70% operations and 30% business development. It's not a pure sales role, and it's not a desk-based strategy position.

You'll work closely with senior leadership, support daily operational decisions, lead teams, manage customer issues, and contribute to business growth. You'll learn the operation deeply, take ownership of difficult situations, and earn broader responsibility through strong execution.

This opportunity is best suited to someone ambitious, commercially capable, operationally hands-on, and motivated to prove themselves in a demanding environment. What You'll Do

Operations &

- Leadership

Support daily operational decision-making across logistics and container services

Help manage urgent customer, service, staffing, and operational issues

Work closely with dispatch, customer service, drivers, yards,



and internal teams

Lead, coach, and support employees in a high-pressure workplace

Set clear expectations and maintain accountability

Improve communication, execution, and follow-through across teams

Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

Take ownership of practical solutions and escalate critical issues appropriately Client &

- Commercial Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders

Identify and pursue new business opportunities in logistics and container services

Support account growth and long-term customer retention

Understand client needs and coordinate with operations to ensure realistic service delivery

Participate in pricing, proposals, presentations, and commercial discussions

Represent the company professionally in client meetings and industry settings

Prepare regular updates on operational priorities, client activity, and business-development progress Travel &

- Availability

Travel approximately 2–4 times per month to Montreal, Edmonton, and Calgary

Attend client meetings, visit company locations, and support business-development activity

Remain reachable for urgent operational decisions outside regular hours when required

Maintain reliable transportation for local travel Who We're Looking For

You're likely a strong fit if you:

Have experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, trucking, intermodal, drayage, warehousing, distribution, or a closely related environment

Have already taken responsibility for people, customers, service issues, or branch-level execution

Are commercially capable and comfortable speaking with clients

Have experience winning, growing, or supporting business

Are hands-on and willing to stay involved after the sale

Can make sound decisions under pressure

Communicate directly, clearly, and professionally





Are confident without needing immediate authority

Are comfortable learning from experienced operators

Want to grow into broader leadership responsibility over time

Can operate effectively in an entrepreneurial environment with limited layers and rapid decisions

Are willing to earn trust through consistency, judgment, and follow-through Experience &

- Qualifications

Minimum 3+ years of leadership or managerial experience

Experience in business development, account growth, client management, or commercial operations

Strong understanding of logistics, transportation, supply chain, or container-related services

Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a quick-paced environment

Strong communication, relationship-management, and problem-solving skills

Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field is preferred

MBA or advanced degree is considered an asset

Must be authorized to work in Canada Strong Assets

Experience with CN or CPKC rail

Drayage or intermodal experience

Container transportation knowledge

Experience working with dispatch, terminals, chassis, drivers, or yards

Experience managing customer escalations or service recovery

Experience leading a small operational or commercial team

Existing relationships within logistics, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, importing, distribution, or 3PL environments This Role Isn't the Right Fit If You're Looking For A pure business-development role with little operational involvement A predictable role with no after-hours responsibility A senior title without hands-on execution
