MECHANICAL TECHNOLOGIST (PLUMBING)
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring for a Mechanical Technologist (Plumbing) to join an established engineering consulting team in either London or Kitchener, Ontario .
This is an in-office opportunity supporting a variety of residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects . The successful candidate will contribute to plumbing design, project coordination, and construction support from concept through completion .
Location: London, ON OR Kitchener, ON
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Compensation: $63,000 – $80,000/year , depending on experience
What we're looking for The ideal candidate will bring 4–8 years of plumbing design experience , with previous experience working on apartment buildings and multi-unit residential projects .
You will also have strong AutoCAD skills and a diploma in Mechanical Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field . REVIT experience is considered an asset.
This role is well suited to someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple projects, and able to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Plumbing Design & Documentation
- Prepare and coordinate plumbing design drawings for permit and construction under the direction of the Project Engineer or Project Lead.
- Assist with developing design briefs, verification requirements, and project checklists to ensure quality and compliance with applicable standards.
- Support project design and documentation throughout various stages of the project.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and internal teams to maintain design intent and project milestones.
- Attend design and coordination meetings and record/distribute meeting minutes to the MEP Project Lead.
- Monitor project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Identify and communicate potential cost or schedule impacts to the Project Lead.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining momentum and focus.
Construction Support
- Review and issue shop drawings .
- Support construction services through site reviews and technical clarification .
- Assist with occupancy and project sign-off activities to confirm systems align with design and specifications.
- Assist with project close-out and ensure significant project correspondence is properly documented and stored.
Additional Project Support
- Assist with fee proposal preparation, pricing reviews, and peer review coordination , as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Plumbing Division Leads.
WHAT YOU BRING
Required Experience
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in building design, specifically plumbing design and/or installation .
- Experience with commercial and multi-unit residential buildings .
- Apartment building / multi-unit residential project experience is important.
- Previous experience working in an engineering consulting environment .
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency.
- Diploma in Mechanical Technology, Architectural Technology,
or a related program .
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of plumbing design and building systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office .
- REVIT experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and develop practical solutions.

WORK SCHEDULE 40-hour work week
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
