We have an exciting opportunity for a positive, creative person to join the team at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley. We’re seeking a full-time Mentoring Coordinator to join our passionate team—someone who is especially skilled in supporting and nurturing mentoring relationships, with a focus on managing and supporting our group mentoring programs.

You will assist in the recruitment, screening, training of potential, liaising with partners, as well as provide ongoing support and monitoring to our group mentoring programs. You demonstrate self-awareness, are detail-oriented, and have strong case management skills as a Mentoring Coordinator.

What you will be doing:

- Coordinating group mentoring programs,



including volunteer management and child enrollment
- Providing support and monitoring to group mentoring programs matches to ensure that children and youth are in safe, constructive, satisfying programs that are having a positive impact.
- Prospecting, recruiting, and processing inquiries and applications from potential volunteers and clients including parents, guardians, children, and youth.
- Conducting Pre-Match training program with volunteers, children and youth. Delivering messages to volunteers and children about program expectations, guidelines and safety.
- Building relationships with other service providers, school partners and donors to further assist the children, youth, families and volunteers they support.
- Working to create and foster constructive, strength based and satisfying relationships between children, youth and volunteers.
- Maintaining up-to-date electronic casework notes, statistics and other required reporting in compliance with relevant standards, policies and processes.
- Performing administrative functions as required to administer and report on mentorship programs and caseloads.
- Completing program evaluations and submitting outcome reports for funding purposes.
- Supervising practicum students and other work placements.
- Participate in regular team meetings and agency initiatives, including fundraising and community engagement activities as needed

What you bring:

- You have a minimum 2-year post-secondary diploma with related work experience (required)



or you have a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or humanities (preferred)
- You have 1 to 3 years’ direct program delivery experience working with children and families
- Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) skills
- You are a well-organized, mature, self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team
- You are skilled at facilitation, interviewing and training
- You have knowledge of child/adolescent development and experience supporting mentoring or developmental relationships.
- You have a demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with diverse individuals and communities
- You are skilled in using Microsoft Office, databases, and communication tools (experience with case management systems is an asset
- You are available to work occasional evenings to accommodate volunteer schedules and evening programming.
- You are skilled at motivating and supporting volunteers
- You are able to exercise good judgement and sound decision making.
- You have a valid driver’s license and access to a car for out-of-office appointments (required)
