As we enter into the next stage of growth, we are seeking a Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work in a very quick paced environment performing general laboratory duties within required timelines:
- Prepare media and reagents; receive media, reagents, and related components; conduct growth promotion; and read plates, isolate, and purify bacteria;
- Operate and calibrate standard microbiology laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and instruments;
- Complete safety and laboratory inventory check lists;
- Sterilization of glassware, laboratory instruments, work benches, laboratory equipment and disposal of samples and laboratory materials;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct specialized microbial testing, chemical analysis, and genetic testing / microbial identification, as needed, on raw materials, intermediates, soils, and water samples.
- Maintain meticulous and coherent documentation, including lab notebooks, equipment logbooks, work lists, log registry, and microbiological data entry.
- Conduct basic analytical methods and data analysis.
- Perform all activities in compliance with identified guidelines and company SOPs.
- Identify procedural and/or process gaps; and write and update SOPs for the research and development laboratory and provide support for functional SOPs.




- Write method and validation protocols and reports, and review and edit reports written by other team members.
- Write, review, and edit manuscripts, white papers, technical data sheets, etc. for publication and/or other customer focused requirements.
- Support product manufacturing, production, packaging, and related tasks and follow all related manufacturing protocols, as required.
- Provide technical support to customer service, business development and product development functions and attend client meetings, as required.
- Provide product and/or technical training to customers and new employees.
- Draft and manage research and development plans, activities, and tasks associated with projects and oversee project implementation as required.
- Communicate proactively with colleagues and teams to facilitate work in order to meet project deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

- Hons. B.Sc. or higher degree in Microbiology or related degree program.
- Ontario drivers license and vehicle.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Willing to undertake occasional travel and be available for periodic weekend on-call duties.

Physical Demands:

- Ability to lift up to 25kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances.
- Ability to sit or stand for a full eight (8) hour shift.
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks.
