Contract: 12 month + possible extension
Location: 5x onsite in Victoria, BC
Rate: 60-100hr

We may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with the screening, assessment, or selection of potential applicants for this position.
In this role, you will:
- Work under the direction of the Naval Architecture team to analyze, assess, and develop repair solutions for submarine steel structures and hull systems, including reviewing structural surveys, NDT reports, and technical queries.
- Develop and review repair specifications, structural calculations, technical drawings, work packages, and contract documentation for submarine maintenance and repair activities.
- Provide engineering support and direction during the build-up, testing, and repair of submarine hull and structural systems, including participation in hazard identification and risk assessments.
- Collaborate closely with project management, quality, supply chain,
contractors, and customers, including Seaspan’s production workforce and Department of National Defence (DND) authorities and in office teams.
The ideal candidate brings:
- A degree in Naval Architecture, Marine, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, with a P.Eng. designation and a minimum of 4 years of structural or marine engineering experience .
- Strong knowledge of marine structures, naval architecture standards, and the design, maintenance, and repair of steel structures, with the ability to develop complex technical solutions.
- Experience working with DND or defence-related projects , with strong written and verbal communication skills and experience preparing technical reports and presentations.
