Help improve the systems behind healthcare in Yukon

Yukon Hospitals is looking for an experienced Network Analyst to join the team responsible for the technology infrastructure connecting and supporting our hospitals.

Reporting to the Manager of Information Systems, this is a hands-on technical role responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance and support of network, server and other core technology infrastructure across Yukon Hospitals. The Network Analyst also serves as a senior technical resource for complex infrastructure issues and projects.

The role works closely with Information Services colleagues, vendors and teams throughout the organization to troubleshoot problems, implement new technology and maintain reliable access to the systems and communications services that hospital operations depend on every day.

Our environment is undergoing significant modernization, including the implementation of a broad Fortinet technology stack spanning networking, wireless, SD-WAN, SASE, telephony and physical security. We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on Fortinet experience and Fortinet NSE certification.

What you’ll do The work combines infrastructure support with implementation, maintenance and technical project work, including:

- Managing, maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure;
- Planning and implementing network, server, telecommunications and other infrastructure changes;
- Investigating and resolving complex network, infrastructure, system and endpoint issues;
- Evaluating, testing and implementing new technologies in collaboration with vendors and internal teams;
- Supporting technical infrastructure projects from planning and testing through implementation and ongoing support;
- Providing technical direction and guidance to the Technical Analyst; and
- Maintaining technical documentation, standards and procedures.

The Network Analyst has a high degree of independence in assessing technical problems and implementing solutions within their area of responsibility. As a senior technical resource,



the position also monitors developments in technology and provides advice and recommendations to the Manager of Information Systems on infrastructure, emerging technologies and opportunities to improve hospital information services.

Some days will focus on troubleshooting an immediate network or infrastructure issue; others may involve planning an upgrade, implementing new technology, working with a vendor or supporting a larger infrastructure project.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with robust enterprise networking and infrastructure experience, hands-on Fortinet expertise, and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical problems.

The successful candidate will bring:

- A diploma or degree in Information Systems, Network or Communications Systems, or a related field, combined with relevant infrastructure and networking experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered;
- Strong experience supporting and managing enterprise TCP/IP networks, network equipment and related infrastructure;
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet networking and security technologies;
- Fortinet NSE certification or current equivalent Fortinet certification;
- Experience implementing,



maintaining and troubleshooting enterprise infrastructure, including networks, servers, and other core technology infrastructure;
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose complex infrastructure issues and implement practical solutions;
- Experience planning and implementing infrastructure changes and technical projects; and
- Strong communication, documentation and relationship-building skills with technical teams, clients and vendors.

Experience supporting infrastructure in a healthcare or other highly available, 24/7 environment would be an asset.

While strong networking and Fortinet experience are important, we’re also looking for someone who can understand how infrastructure components work together, learn unfamiliar technologies and consider the operational impact of technical changes.

Working at Yukon Hospitals

This position is based in Whitehorse and supports technology infrastructure across our hospitals in Whitehorse, Dawson City and Watson Lake.

Working in a smaller health system provides an opportunity to work across a broad technology environment rather than being limited to one narrow area of infrastructure. The Network Analyst works across interconnected network, server, telecommunications and other technologies and can see the impact of their work throughout the organization.

The role includes occasional travel to our hospitals for infrastructure work and projects, as well as potential travel outside Yukon for training or conferences.

Working in a 24/7 hospital environment requires participation in an on-call rotation, as well as occasional evening and weekend work to support infrastructure changes, upgrades and downtime activities.
