Job Overview The Next-to-New Store Manager oversees the daily operation of the Next to New Store, in accordance with the agency's philosophy, policies and procedures. The Next to New Store’s primary objective is revenue generation, and is responsible for Business Planning, Market Planning, Advertising, Promotion, Sales and Product Development. This is a management position, responsible for securing customers for our products and services, and developing campaigns to sell our products and services, in accordance with the agency's philosophy, policies and procedures.

Key functions and Responsibilities:

· Conduct interview and hires qualified applicants

· Prepare monthly schedule and approves all requests for leave and overtime

· Do performance evaluation for all the staff

· Conducts investigations of incidents and discipline employees

· Directly supervises staff and assign them their day-to-day activities

· Prepares annual Marketing plans for the revenue based program

· Participates in the development and review of Advertising and Promotion plans

· Takes a leadership role with the pricing structures and sales activities.

· Coordinates customer satisfaction surveys at least annually; identify market demands/customer needs; improve revenue

· Work with supervisors to develop and implement marketing strategies

· Provides effective support and evaluation of staff to Senior Production and Marketing Manager, including comments re: annual performance appraisals of Vocational (revenue based workers)

· Develops and manages market and advertising budgets for all revenue based programs, and monitors budget performance

· Assist in the development of contacts with businesses/public and market the products within the store for the purpose of increasing revenue

· Assist the Senior Production and Marketing Manager in development and achievement of goals and objectives for the area

· Assist the Senior Production and Marketing Manager in the planning and implementation of promotional Events

· Monitors budget, taking advantage of special purchase opportunities; and ensuring the store contains a variety of stock

· Monitors and adjusts quality of material in the store as appropriate/possible





· Responsible for overall supervision of staff, work experience individuals, and volunteers in the area

· Keep records of hours of work for all staff in the Next to New Store

· Responsible for supervision of work experience placement/students

· Responsible for securing building after working hours

· Ensures proper lines of communication are followed

· Present an appropriate and positive public image on behalf of the agency

· Acts appropriately in emergency situations making sure the appropriate persons are contacted (adheres to Health & Safety Procedures Manual)

· Complete daily records and bank deposits

· Price, display and market merchandise from donations and purchases

· Develop and maintain the attractiveness of the store to encourage customers to come in

· Maintain solid and positive customer relations

· Attends program meetings as required

· Submits required documentation for Senior Production and Marketing Manager (i.e. Monthly management reports)

· Ensures all documentation and reports are updated and maintained in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures

· Monitor standards to ensure they conform to Accreditation and Core Standards

· Schedules and executes sales meetings with revenue staff as necessary

· Is aware of, and ensures, the basic human rights of people served are respected

· Establishes and maintains open, timely and appropriate communication

· Participates in staff training as required

· Follows guidelines regarding restrictive procedures (adheres to Restrictive Procedures Manual and Abuse Protocol Training)

· Understands and respects confidentiality of information

· Other duties including but not limited to (as determined at yearly performance Appraisal.

Qualifications:

· Degree in Business and/or Marketing or equivalent in education/experience





· Demonstrated skill in sales and marketing

· Demonstrated communication and organization skills; First Aid and CPR

· Three to five years experience in sales; supervisory experience/ marketing experience required

· Computer literacy/skills required

· Criminal Records Check

· Child Welfare Prior Involvement Check

· Valid Drivers License

Working Conditions:

· Works primarily in a retail-store environment with regular interaction with employees, volunteers, customers, donors, and members of the public.

· Regularly works in a busy environment that requires managing competing priorities, frequent interruptions, and time-sensitive responsibilities.

· May be required to stand or walk for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, sorting, displaying, and moving merchandise.

· May occasionally be exposed to dust, dirt, odours, or other materials associated with donated merchandise.

· Uses standard office and retail equipment, including computers, telephones, point-of-sale systems, and other store equipment.

· Handles cash, prepares bank deposits, and is responsible for securing the store after business hours.

· Must respond calmly and appropriately to customer concerns, employee matters, workplace incidents, and emergency situations.

· Must maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee, customer, and agency information.

· Must comply with all agency policies and procedures, including health and safety, emergency response, abuse-prevention, and restrictive-procedure requirements.

Pay: $19.51-$22.44 per hour
