We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Long Haul Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting freight across long distances while ensuring the safety and timely delivery of goods. This role requires solid driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate heavy equipment. The Long Haul Driver will play a crucial role in maintaining our commitment to excellent service.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transit.
- Manage time efficiently to meet delivery deadlines while adhering to regulations regarding rest periods.
- Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment as necessary for loading and unloading freight.
- Perform basic automotive repairs as needed to ensure vehicle reliability.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required.
- Proven experience in long-haul driving with a strong understanding of freight transportation.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Experience with forklift operation is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a background in automotive repair is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings as required by company policy.
