POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Nursery Manager, this position is responsible for the purchasing, selling, pricing, displaying, maintaining and merchandising of nursery shrubs. This includes directing the day-to-day activities of our team in the display and care of shrubs. This is a full-time, year-round position for a team player and plant enthusiast with excellent customer service and leadership skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and a keen eye for the retail environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Review plant availability from growers and place orders for shrubs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local growers.
- Receive incoming shrub orders, quality check and ensure pricing is correct.
- Support and supervise the team responsible for shrubs to ensure proper placement and care, ensure tasks are completed and high productivity levels are maintained.
- Create inspiring displays, ensure areas are well organized with clear signage.
- Ensure all plants in retail area meet our quality standards
- Select plants for our weekly marketing program, participate in marketing planning
- Maintain the integrity of our plant database e.g. ensure names and descriptions are correct and remove duplicate items.
- Regularly review sales reports.




- Assist with inventory management, including physical counts and adjustments.
- Provide – and inspire! - customer service excellence for each customer, every day.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with onboarding, training and coaching team members.
- Schedule and coordinate the team as needed.
- Participate in planning, executing, and evaluating the business goals and strategies.
- Development and implementation of procedural standards.
- Contribute ideas to the annual Marketing Plan.
- Lead seminars and workshops

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Robust computer skills, specifically experience with Excel and spreadsheets.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good knowledge of a wide variety of shrubs
- Experience working in a retail environment.
- Supervisory experience, ideally in a nursery setting.
- An understanding of customer service excellence and the commitment to achieve it.
- A successful multi-tasker with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing retail environment*.*
- A friendly and professional demeanor with advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work full time (5 days / 40 hours per week).
- Weekend availability (Tuesday to Saturday schedule).
- The ability to lift up to 20 kg and to stay physically active throughout the day in all weather conditions.

COMPENSATION:

- $22.00 - $23.00 per hour depending on experience.
