Job Summary

Step Up Autism Academy is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our team and support children with autism and developmental needs.

The successful candidate will work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OT) to implement individualized therapy activities and support each child's development.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide one-to-one support to children with autism during OT sessions.
- Implement activities and strategies provided by the supervising Registered OT.
- Support development of:
- Fine motor skills
- Gross motor skills
- Sensory processing
- Handwriting and pre-academic skills
- Self-care and daily living skills
- Coordination and motor planning
- Independence and functional skills
- Follow individualized treatment plans and OT recommendations.
- Record session information and communicate observations to the supervising OT.
- Work collaboratively with ABA therapists, speech therapists, teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Help prepare therapy materials and maintain an organized therapy environment.
- Promote positive behaviour, engagement, communication, and independence.




- Maintain client confidentiality and follow all safety and qualified policies.

Qualifications
- Diploma or education in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/PTA), Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services, Behavioural Science, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with children with autism is preferred.
- Experience in pediatric therapy, ABA, education, or developmental services is an asset.
- Patient, compassionate, energetic, and reliable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working one-to-one with children.
- Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 – 35.0 per week
