Hours: Based on a 35-hour work week, typically Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. May require evenings or weekends for special events, projects or emergency work.

Lac La Biche County is seeking an Officer, Communications & Partnerships for a 12 to 18 month full-time term position. Reporting to the General Manager, Strategy & Community Growth and indirectly to the General Manager, Recreation & Social Services, this position will support effective, timely and engaging communications across the organization and community.
The successful candidate will help strengthen the County’s public presence, support communications strategies and ensure information is clear, accurate and accessible to residents, employees, stakeholders and the broader community.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and oversee promotional content, media releases, public notices, newsletters, social media and other communications.
- Support communications for the Mayor, Council, CAO and Senior Leadership Team.
- Guide marketing campaigns, branding initiatives and public awareness activities.
- Maintain an accurate, current and engaging County online presence.
- Support public engagement, consultations and community events through communications and logistical coordination.
- Serve as a media spokesperson and support crisis communications as the Public Information Officer when required.
- Build and maintain relationships with media, vendors, consultants and external partners.
- Develop internal communications that promote employee engagement, clarity and collaboration.
- Monitor public sentiment, digital analytics and media trends to inform future messaging.
- Provide communications expertise to staff, project teams and Council committees.
- Assist with work planning, budgets, contracts, agreements and related administrative responsibilities.
What You Bring
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related field.
- 3–5 years of related experience.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Press Style Guidelines and advanced graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, conflict resolution and political sensitivity skills.
- Strong time and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of local government or public sector practices is considered an asset.
- NACLAA Levels I and II would be considered an asset.
- A combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Compensation Details
- Salary range is: $86,104.20 to $110,637.80 annually ($47.31 to 60.79 hourly)
