Step Up Academy is looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) to provide high-quality after-school tutoring to elementary and secondary school students.
This position is ideal for a teacher who enjoys helping students strengthen their academic skills, improve confidence, and achieve their educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group tutoring after school.
- Support students with homework, assignments, test preparation, and study skills.
- Provide instruction in:
- Mathematics
- English / Literacy
- Reading and Writing
- Science
- Study and organizational skills
- Identify areas where students need additional support.
- Develop individualized tutoring plans based on each student's academic needs.
- Explain concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians.
- Maintain brief session notes and progress records.
- Communicate professionally with parents and the Step Up Academy team.
- Create a positive, encouraging, and engaging learning setting.
Qualifications
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Bachelor's degree and teaching qualification.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario curriculum.
- Previous tutoring or classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, organized, reliable, and enthusiastic.
- Ability to work independently with students.
Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour Expected hours: 6.0 – 25.0 per week
