**Outside Sales Representative – Building Materials

Position Overview

Adam Tools Inc. is seeking an experienced and results-driven Outside Sales Representative to grow our building-material sales and develop long-term relationships with contractors, builders, developers, framers, drywall contractors, and other construction professionals.

Applicants must have previous sales experience in the building-material industry.

The successful candidate will generate new business, manage customer accounts, prepare and follow up on quotations, and support customers throughout the ordering and delivery process.

Products and Services The Outside Sales Representative will focus on selling:

- Complete lumber packages
- Dimensional and engineered lumber
- Drywall and related accessories
- Steel studs, tracks, and framing accessories
- Fibreglass and mineral-wool insulation
- Other construction and building materials

Key Responsibilities

- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the construction industry.
- Build relationships with contractors, homebuilders, developers, project managers, estimators, and purchasing teams.
- Visit construction sites, contractor offices, and prospective customers throughout the assigned territory.
- Promote Adam Tools’ products, pricing, delivery capabilities, and customer service.
- Review drawings, material lists, and project requirements to help customers select suitable products.




- Work with the estimating team to prepare quotations for complete lumber and building-material packages.
- Follow up on estimates, active projects, and sales opportunities.
- Negotiate pricing and terms within company guidelines.
- Manage existing customer accounts and identify opportunities to increase sales.
- Coordinate with purchasing, estimating, warehouse, dispatch, and accounting teams to ensure orders are processed accurately.
- Assist in resolving product, order, and delivery-related concerns.
- Maintain organized records of customer interactions, quotations, projects, and follow-ups.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, and customer demand.
- Meet or exceed established sales and account-development targets.
- Represent Adam Tools professionally at customer meetings, job sites, trade events, and industry functions.

Required Qualifications

- Previous sales experience in the building-material industry is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of lumber, drywall, steel framing, insulation, or related construction materials.
- Established relationships within the local construction industry are a strong asset.
- Proven ability to develop new accounts and maintain long-term customer relationships.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and closing skills.




- Ability to understand material lists, construction drawings, and project specifications.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.
- Solid attention to detail and ability to manage multiple customers and projects.
- Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, quoting systems, and customer-management software.
- Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory.
