This is a light part-time position that involves teaching 2-5 one-hour lessons per week
Young Rembrandts is an acclaimed drawing program for pre-school and elementary-aged children. Our step-by-step process teaches children fundamental drawing skills and art techniques while encouraging creativity.
We are looking for creative, energetic and responsible candidates who enjoy coaching, motivating and guiding young children in a structured group learning environment. Young Rembrandts will train qualified instructors in the Young Rembrandts methodology and teaching techniques, and will provide all lessons and supplies.
Young Rembrandts offers classes in schools and community centres across York Region. Currently we are seeking drawing instructors in Aurora and Richmond Hill.
As a Young Rembrandts instructor, you must be available to teach a minimum of 2-3 one-hour classes each week, with availability on weekdays and Saturdays. Instructors are assigned to specific locations and stay with the same locations and days of the week for the whole term, and preferably throughout the school year.
Job Requirements:
- Teach Young Rembrandts’ structured, step-by-step drawing lessons to children aged 4-12 years of age at schools and community centres
- Prepare lessons and materials before class
- Track and manage attendance
- Set-up and take down of tables and chairs may be required depending on location
- Provide photos of completed artwork from each class
- Attend staff meetings and on-going training as required (meetings and training are paid time)
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching/working with children, especially in early childhood education and/or classroom environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage young learners
- Strong classroom management skills
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related field preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (own car preferred)
- Recent (within 6 months of application date) Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
- Certification/Training: First Aid/CPR, High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development), AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act)
- Dependable and must be able to commit to teaching a minimum of 2-3 one-hour classes each week
- Must be available Monday to Sunday
