About the Role
ToDoToronto is one of Toronto's largest things-to-do media channels.
We're looking for a Social Media & Content Coordinator to help us find, film and post what's happening around Toronto.
You'll identify trending stories and events, create social content, attend and film experiences around the city, and provide backup coverage for our social media team when needed.

What You'll Do
Social Media & Trends — Approx. 60%
- Monitor Toronto events, trends, viral posts and breaking stories.
- Identify content opportunities that could perform well on ToDoToronto.
- Help manage our Instagram and TikTok channels.
- Create quick-turnaround Reels, carousels and posts using CapCut and Canva.
- Write attention-grabbing hooks and captions.
- Monitor content performance and identify posts gaining momentum.
- Communicate with our creators, VAs and internal content team.
- Provide social media coverage when other team members are unavailable.
On-Site Content Creation — Approx. 40%
- Attend approximately 2–3 Toronto events, activations or locations per week.
- Film festivals, concerts, restaurants, pop-ups, attractions, openings and major Toronto events.
- Capture engaging vertical video for Instagram Reels and TikTok.
- Quickly identify the most interesting and visually compelling moments.
- Capture celebrity appearances and other newsworthy moments when opportunities arise.
- Send time-sensitive footage to our team quickly.
- Edit and publish timely content when needed.
- Travel throughout Toronto for on-site assignments.
TIFF Availability Strong availability during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) period is required for this position.
During TIFF, this role will include increased in office coverage throughout Toronto, including capturing celebrity appearances, premieres, fan activity, events and other timely moments.
What We're Looking For
- Based in Toronto/GTA and able to travel around the city.
- Available for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Strong availability during TIFF, including daytime, evening and weekend hours.
- Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok and short-form video.
- Regularly follows Toronto events, restaurants, entertainment and things to do.
- Understands why certain social posts perform well and can recognize strong content opportunities.
- Comfortable filming independently at busy events and locations.
- Experience using CapCut and Canva.
- Strong eye for visually compelling content and attention-grabbing hooks.
- Able to make quick decisions without needing constant direction.
- Reliable, organized and proactive.
- Strong written communication and attention to detail.
- Enrolled in or graduated from a Canadian university or college.
Bonus: Experience filming festivals, concerts, celebrity appearances or major events.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first few months, you'll be able to:
- Independently identify strong Toronto content opportunities.
- Recognize which stories are worth covering and which should be skipped.
- Capture and edit engaging content quickly while on location.
- Spot emerging Toronto trends before they become saturated.
- Provide reliable backup coverage for our content team when needed.
- Consistently contribute content that drives strong reach, shares, saves and engagement.
