About Us
We partner with universities to scale career support through our two digital platforms: Beyond Graduate School for master's students, and Beyond the Professoriate for PhDs. We work with about 90 campuses in the United States, and we're growing each year.
We're a small but mighty team of five, founder-led, and most of us have been with the company since the beginning. This company is our passion project. We're looking for someone who wants to join our team and share that commitment.
We're remote; we work across time zones, and we're collaborative. On a small team, that means we have autonomy in our work, but we're also accountable to each other. Integrity and trust are core principles we value in team members.
This role is primarily account management. We're looking for someone to work closely with our partner offices to help them engage graduate students in career support. With new accountability rules coming into effect, ensuring students engage with career support is more critical to our partners than ever.
And as universities face enormous budget pressures, we need to clearly demonstrate our ROI. We're taking our partnership engagement in a new direction, so you'll help shape the role and set up current processes as you go.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnership & Account Management
- Build lasting relationships with partner offices, mostly graduate schools (deans and professional development staff) and, to a lesser extent, career service offices
- Know when to say yes to a request,
and when to say no in a way that leaves the partner feeling heard
- Find creative ways to reach master's students specifically (one of the hardest and most important parts of the job)
- Tailor your engagement approach to each campus, since what works for one won't fit the next
- Turn your best-performing partners into case studies others can learn from
- Use data and KPIs to spot which partners are succeeding and which need attention
- Establish the processes this role runs on, and improve them as it grows
Presenting
- Lead onboarding info sessions for new campuses, including engaging sessions for faculty
- Create additional webinars for partners and faculty on career support and best practices
Learner Engagement
- Spot friction in the student experience and flag what's keeping learners from coming back
- Review the questions students ask, and work with our instructional designer to keep content matched to what learners need
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree, any discipline
- Account management experience (higher ed doesn't work like other sectors; tactics from SaaS or corporate sales don't always port)
- A strong presenter, comfortable delivering webinars and leading info sessions
- Openness to using AI in your work and curiosity about new tools
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Able to travel to the United States, with a valid passport and no criminal record. You'll need to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Ed Tech or graduate student recruitment
- Familiarity with U.S. higher education, especially graduate education
- Knowledge of the master's space: online and in-person programs, returning and upskilling students, and international student concerns
Personal Attributes We Value
- Motivated by seeing customers and students succeed
- Proactive. Identify problems and bring solutions to the team
- Self-directed. You fill your work week with meaningful contributions that add value to the company and team
- Equitable. You volunteer to take on tasks so the work is shared fairly across the team
- Excellent communicator with partners and the team. You keep everyone up to date on what's happening in partner accounts
- Entrepreneurial. You think like a consultant and look for ways to help partners get more from what we offer
- Curious and adaptable, eager to learn
Pay and Benefits
- Starting salary range: $75,000–$85,000 CAD
- Health Spending Account: $4,000
- RRSP contribution: $3,000 after one year of employment
- Two weeks of paid time off, plus company-wide closures the first week of July and from Christmas through New Year's
- Work from home during regular business hours
- Light travel, up to two or three conferences a year as budget allows (the Graduate Career Consortium is the one we'd prioritize)
