Region is made up of 6 distinct communities, a population of 37,130, with a landmass of 12,473 km2, making up 17% of New Brunswick. This scale and diversity create a unique planning environment, with opportunities to work on a wide range of urban, rural, residential, commercial, industrial, and community development matters.

As a Planner with our Development Services team, you will help guide responsible growth and development throughout the region. You will work with member communities, developers, property owners, residents, and other stakeholders on matters ranging from individual development applications to long-term land use policy and community planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Planner, you will:

- Coordinate, research,



and prepare comprehensive land use and community planning policies, such as municipal plans, rural plans, and zoning by-laws.
- Review and prepare detailed technical reports and presentations on development applications for committees and municipal councils.
- Respond to public inquiries about projects and development applications, and support transparency and community involvement.
- Carry out planning studies and research to support land use planning, policy development, and informed decision making.
- Review routine and complex development applications for compliance with applicable plans, bylaws, legislation, and planning requirements, and provide professional planning recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with municipalities, developers, property owners, residents, government agencies, and other stakeholders on planning and development matters throughout the region.

About You

You are a thoughtful and practical planner who can balance policy, technical requirements, community interests, and development needs. You are comfortable analyzing complex issues, communicating your findings clearly, and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

You may already have municipal or rural planning experience, or you may be earlier in your planning career and looking for an opportunity to develop broad, hands-on experience. In either case, you bring sound judgment, strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a commitment to supporting well-planned communities.

Required Qualifications The successful candidate will have:





- A degree from a planning program recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), or a four-year undergraduate degree with eligibility to pursue professional recognition through the applicable Prior Learning and Competency Recognition (PLAR) process.
- Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners, or eligibility for candidate membership.
- At least 1 to 3 years of professional experience in municipal or rural planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with elected officials, developers, residents, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of GIS software and other planning tools is an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset.
