The Real Estate Coordinator supports the management of real estate leasing services at PHSA. This role exists to facilitate the creation, modification, and execution of legal and internal approval documentation for leased and owned spaces. It assists with first level negotiations for small lease renewals and revenue lease portfolios within established guidelines and under the direction of senior staff.

The role also coordinates and communicates with internal and external legal entities. The role extracts, compiles, collates, and exchanges real estate and leasing information fostering positive and respectful relationships with stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

- Maintains the database (Yardi) and inputs all lease information and documentation, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Assists with first level negotiations for small dollar value lease renewals, including drafting agreements for leasing projects, license agreements, sub-lease agreements and revenue agreements, ensuring alignment with established policies and guidance from the Real Estate &
- Leasing Manager and/or the Senior Director, Real Estate, Leasing &
- Property Management.
- Provides administrative and operational support to the Real Estate &
- Leasing Manager on various aspects of real estate services, including preparing lease contract and internal approval documentation, by coordinating and communicating with internal and external lawyers, and liaising with real estate brokers, landlords, land surveyors, fee appraisers, project planners, consultants, and various user groups.
- Consults with internal stakeholders, including management and other business lines within Real Estate Services to provide leasing and real estate information.
- Captures financial data to assist in budget calculations, lease payment and expense projections, and forecasts lease cost escalations using prescribed formats and tools.
- Carries out real estate and leasing activities according to established methodologies and systems. Drafts correspondence, leases, licenses, confidential documents; prepares reports, including graphs, charts and spreadsheets for the Manager, Director, Executive Director, Board or Facilities’
- Committee presentations.
- Assists the Real Estate &
- Leasing Manager in the development and maintenance of departmental reports, templates, electronic files, policies and guidelines, and other initiatives that support FM business goals.
- Coordinates and assists with the transfer of information with other FM Real Estate, Leasing &
- Property Management business lines.
- Represents the Real Estate &
- Leasing Department at a variety of internal and external meetings as required.

Qualifications What you bring A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Diploma in Business Administration, Urban Land Economics and/or related discipline, supplemented with three (3) to five (5) years' recent related experience with public and/or private sector commercial real estate projects within a large complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

- Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including supported by significant knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, including clear understanding of and commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health disparities and barriers to care. Show a clear commitment to identifying, challenging, and eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and all forms of discrimination impacting equity-deserving groups within health care settings. This involves familiarity and understanding Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility recognizing personal biases, institutional barriers, engaging in anti-racism education and training and advocating for systemic change.




- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within the program contexts found in the foundational documents including Truth &
- Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women &
- Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - BC Human Rights Code, BC Anti-racism Act and how they intersect across the health care system.

- Brings an understanding of the Indigenous specific racism and the broader systemic racism that exists in the colonial health care structure, and has demonstrated initiatives in breaking down barriers and ensuring a safe environment ensuring a sense of belonging to all and informed by Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Awareness of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (the Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Skills &

- Knowledge

- Knowledge of real estate laws and taxes, legal contracts, lease, and contract terms.
- Ability to create, modify and interpret lease contracts.
- Knowledge of market survey techniques as it relates to buying, selling, or leasing properties.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills including the ability to facilitate consensus with various stakeholders.
- Familiarity with construction drawings and construction specifications.
- Ability to manage and process significant amounts of information.
- Ability to operate related equipment including related software applications, including MS Office
- Demonstrates a commitment to beginning and/or continuing their personal learning journey related to Indigenous-specific racism and dismantling systems of oppression, as well as addressing racism more broadly. Shows willingness to articulate and share their learning experiences to contribute to a culture of motivation and inspiration among peers.
- Demonstrates foundational knowledge of the social, economic, and political realities of settler-colonialism and its impacts on Indigenous peoples and equity-deserving groups within social and health contexts. Understands the impact of social determinants of health-on-health outcomes. Job Type: Temporary Casual Salary Range: $35-36/hour - as a casual employee, total earnings include an additional 13% in lieu of benefits and paid vacation. The rate for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan

Location: Hybrid – 2-3 days per week on-site at 1795 Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby BC
