Red Seal / Journeyman Carpenter

Southall's Construction Ltd. is hiring a Red Seal / Journeyman Carpenter to work on high-end custom homes in the Cowichan Valley. This role is for someone who takes ownership of their work, builds to a high standard, and contributes to efficient, well-run job sites. For candidates interested in broadening their skill set, there are opportunities to expand into excavation, site services, and truck/trailer operations through our sister company, Southall Services.

Responsibilities

- Build custom homes from framing through finishing
- Read and execute construction drawings and details
- Deliver consistent, high-quality workmanship
- Mentor apprentices and junior crew members
- Coordinate with site supervisors and subtrades
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site
- Identify issues early and assist in problem-solving
- Assist with excavation and site services as required
- Support truck, trailer, and equipment logistics when applicable
- Flexibility to work longer hours when project schedules or milestones require it

Requirements:
- Red Seal / Journeyman Carpenter or equivalent experience




- Minimum 7 years residential carpentry experience
- Experience with custom or high-end residential construction
- Ability to work independently and lead by example
- Willingness to mentor and support team development
- Willingness to adjust hours as needed to meet project demands
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to Shawnigan Lake, BC

Required Tools:
- Steel-toed boots
- Own well-equipped tool belt

Pay & Benefits:
- $35–40/hr, based on experience
