Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) – Independent Contractor

Empowered Wellness is seeking a warm, reliable and skilled Registered Clinical Counsellor to join our practice as an in-person independent contractor in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

The ideal candidate has experience providing both couples and individual counselling, with availability during evenings and/or weekends. Experience with trauma-focused counselling or EMDR is considered an asset.

Position details

- In-person independent contractor position
- Approximately 5–12 client sessions per week
- Weekday evening and/or weekend availability
- Opportunity to build a caseload through practice referrals

Responsibilities
- Provide ethical, client-centred counselling to couples and individuals
- Assess client concerns and develop collaborative treatment goals
- Support couples experiencing communication difficulties, conflict, betrayal, intimacy concerns and relationship transitions
- Support individual clients with concerns such as anxiety, relationships, life transitions and trauma
- Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries and confidentiality
- Complete clinical documentation accurately and promptly
- Follow appropriate risk-assessment and crisis-management procedures
- Follow BCACC standards,



practice policies and applicable privacy requirements

Required qualifications
- Master’s degree in counselling psychology, clinical counselling or a related field
- Current Registered Clinical Counsellor designation in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors
- Professional liability insurance
- Experience providing both individual and couples counselling
- Ability to practise independently
- Strong clinical documentation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ethical, culturally responsive and trauma-informed care
- Ability to offer in-person evening and/or weekend appointments

Preferred qualifications
- Training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, the Gottman Method, or another recognized couples therapy approach
- EMDR training or certification
- Experience supporting clients affected by betrayal, relationship trauma, anxiety, high-conflict relationships or major life transitions
- Availability to maintain approximately 5–12 sessions per week
