About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and clinically skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient endoscopy clinic in Vaughan.

The RN will play an integral role in providing safe, high-quality, patient-centred care throughout the patient's visit — from admission and pre-procedure assessment through the procedure, recovery, and discharge.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment and has strong assessment skills and clinical judgment.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcome, admit, and assess patients prior to their endoscopic procedure.
- Complete nursing assessments, obtain vital signs, and review relevant medical history, medications, and allergies.
- Establish and maintain intravenous access and provide IV therapy as required.
- Assist physicians with procedures as required.
- Assist with polypectomy, biopsies, and other minor therapeutic interventions performed during endoscopy.
- Administer conscious sedation and other medications as ordered and within the RN's scope of practice.
- Continuously monitor patients during procedures, including vital signs, oxygen saturation, level of consciousness, and overall clinical status.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition or emergent situations.
- Provide post-procedure recovery care and monitor patients until they meet established discharge criteria.
- Provide patients and caregivers with appropriate post-procedure and discharge instructions.
- Ensure safe discharge of patients in accordance with clinic policies and physician direction.
- Utilize electronic health record systems (Accuro) to document patient information, treatment plans, and progress notes efficiently.
- Follow infection prevention and control, patient safety, and clinic policies and procedures.
- Help ensure patients have a positive, respectful, and comfortable experience throughout their visit.




- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to maintain an productive clinic workflow.
- Perform other related nursing duties within the scope of practice as required.

Qualifications

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and in good standing.
- Current BCLS certification; ACLS is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated competency and experience with IV insertion and IV therapy.
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to recognize and respond quickly and appropriately to emergent situations.
- Experience in endoscopy, ambulatory care, perioperative, emergency, or critical care nursing is an asset.
- Knowledge of conscious sedation and post-sedation patient monitoring is an asset.
