Regulatory Compliance Specialist – Consumer Products

About the RoleM&B; Quality Shoe Care is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Regulatory Compliance Specialist to support regulatory compliance for our shoe care and related consumer products sold throughout Canada and the United States.

This role will be responsible for reviewing and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), product labels, packaging claims, ingredient information, and regulatory documentation to ensure our products meet applicable Canadian and U.S. requirements.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with consumer chemical products and understands how regulatory requirements apply to products such as cleaners, protectors, polishes, dyes, waterproofing products, aerosols, and other formulated consumer goods.

Key Responsibilities

- Review, update, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for products sold in Canada and the United States.
- Ensure SDSs and hazard classifications are current and compliant with applicable GHS/WHMIS and U.S. OSHA Hazard Communication requirements.
- Review product labels and packaging for regulatory compliance in both Canada and the U.S.
- Determine required hazard statements, precautionary statements, pictograms, signal words, first-aid information, and other mandatory label elements.
- Review ingredient and formulation information to identify potential regulatory requirements or restrictions.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain current SDSs, technical data, ingredient disclosures, and other regulatory documentation.
- Maintain organized regulatory files for raw materials and finished products.
- Review new products and packaging prior to launch to identify potential compliance issues.




- Monitor regulatory changes in Canada and the United States that may affect our products, packaging, labeling, or documentation.
- Support compliance requirements for aerosol and non-aerosol consumer chemical products.
- Assist with regulatory inquiries from retailers, distributors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with Product Development, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and external suppliers to ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into product development and packaging.
- Maintain a regulatory database and ensure documentation is current and readily available.
- Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Toxicology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of regulatory compliance experience, preferably involving consumer chemical products, household products, automotive products, coatings, adhesives, cleaners, aerosols, cosmetics, or similar formulated products.
- Strong working knowledge of Safety Data Sheets and GHS hazard classification.
- Experience with Canadian and U.S. product labeling requirements.
- Familiarity with relevant Canadian regulations, including WHMIS/Hazardous Products Regulations and consumer chemical product requirements.
- Familiarity with U.S. requirements including OSHA Hazard Communication and other applicable federal and state requirements.





- Experience reviewing chemical formulations and supplier documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Solid attention to detail and ability to interpret technical and regulatory information.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple products and projects simultaneously.

Preferred QualificationsExperience with any of the following would be considered an asset:
- Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations (CCCR)
- Health Canada requirements
- U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) requirements
- California Proposition 65
- VOC regulations
- Aerosol products
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG/DOT)
- Bilingual English/French labeling requirements
- Regulatory or SDS authoring software
- Retailer-specific compliance requirements

What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for someone who is hands-on and practical, not simply an advisor. This person should be comfortable reviewing an SDS or product label in detail, identifying what needs to change, and working with our team and suppliers to make the necessary corrections.

Accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Our products are distributed through major retailers and other customers across Canada and the United States, so we need someone who can help ensure our regulatory documentation and packaging remain compliant as requirements evolve.
