Your opportunity:

The Department of Medicine (DOM) is one of the largest in North America, with 830 full-time faculty members, 1,000 postgraduate trainees, and 20 specialty and sub-specialty divisions located across six fully-affiliated hospitals, four community-affiliated hospitals and more than a dozen additional clinical practice sites. We are a powerhouse of medical research, with more than $162million in annual research funding. This research generates new knowledge with the goal of meaningfully impacting internal medicine training and the care and health outcomes of patients and their families.

As the Research Project Manager, Sustainable Health Systems Solutions Hub, you will play a key role in advancing strategic initiatives within the Department of Medicine. Drawing on your experience managing complex projects, developing project schedules and deliverables, building strategic relationships with stakeholders and partners, and developing research and funding collaborations, you will help move initiatives from opportunity through implementation. You will also contribute to the development of project-specific proposals, briefings, and partnership initiatives that help diversify funding sources and advance sustainable health systems solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting




- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance, and identifying opportunities for external collaborations
- Writing project-specific proposals, briefings and reports to support research and partnership initiatives
- Drafting and editing partnership agreements and settling partnership agreements and contract terms
- Advising on research project design and advising staff on best practices regarding research ethics protocols
- Monitoring and reporting on funding accounts for research agreements and preparing financial analysis and forecasts

Essential Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting projects and strategic initiatives in an academic, healthcare, research, or similarly complex setting
- Demonstrated experience developing project schedules, including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables, and reporting
- Demonstrated experience building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Demonstrated experience identifying, developing, and executing strategies for research and development collaborations, and identifying new external partnership opportunities
- Demonstrated experience writing and editing project-specific proposals, briefings, and funding applications
- Experience drafting and editing partnership agreements and settling contract terms
- Experience interpreting and applying research funding guidelines, policies, procedures, and sponsor requirements
- Experience supporting research projects,



including advising on research project design and conducting systematic literature reviews
- Experience monitoring and reporting on funding accounts for research agreements and planning financial resources for projects
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using research administration and information management systems, including the Research Information System (RIS)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organizational, project coordination, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet multiple deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures

USW Pay Band 14 -- $91,677. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $117,242. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
