NOW HIRING: RIG CHEF
Remote Camp We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and safety-conscious Rig Chef to join our remote operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals while independently managing the day-to-day kitchen operations at a remote worksite.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Rig Chef is responsible for the overall operation of the kitchen, including meal preparation, menu planning, inventory management, food and supply ordering, food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in a remote camp/rig environment and be able to effectively plan meals and supplies to ensure the kitchen remains fully stocked throughout the rotation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other meals as required for rig/camp personnel.
- Plan balanced, nutritious, and appealing menus suitable for hardworking crews.
- Prepare meals in appropriate quantities while maintaining portion control and minimizing food waste.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special meal requirements when required.
- Maintain excellent standards for food quality, taste, presentation, and consistency.
- Manage kitchen inventory, including food, beverages, cleaning products, and kitchen supplies.
- Prepare and submit food and supply orders based on menu requirements, current inventory, crew numbers, and anticipated consumption.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure adequate supplies are maintained between scheduled deliveries.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory and ordering records.
- Receive and verify deliveries against purchase orders, checking quantities,
quality, temperatures, and product condition.
- Properly store and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Monitor food costs, control portions, and minimize spoilage, over-ordering, and unnecessary waste.
- Communicate shortages, substitutions, delivery issues, and upcoming supply requirements to management or logistics.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining, storage, cooler, and freezer areas.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, temperature-control, and sanitation procedures.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, appliances, work surfaces, and cooking areas.
- Ensure garbage and waste are properly handled and disposed of.
- Follow company Health & Safety policies and safe work procedures.
- Report equipment problems, food safety concerns, hazards, incidents, or supply issues promptly.
- Work cooperatively with operations, logistics, camp staff, and management.
- Perform other camp or kitchen-related duties as reasonably required.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience as a Rig Chef, Camp Cook, Remote Camp Chef, or similar position is strongly preferred.
- Experience with inventory control, grocery ordering, menu planning, and food-cost management is preferred.
- Experience cooking for groups and preparing meals in volume.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to independently plan menus, calculate required quantities, and place accurate food and supply orders.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Valid food safety/food handling certification is preferred or required as applicable.
- Current safety certifications required by the worksite/client must be maintained.
- Ability to pass applicable pre-employment and site-access requirements.
- Physically capable of performing kitchen duties, including standing for extended periods and lifting/moving supplies.
- Must be comfortable working and living in a remote environment.
- Must be reliable, punctual, organized, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We need more than someone who can cook. We are looking for a Rig Chef who can take ownership of the kitchen from meal planning and preparation to inventory and ordering.

WORK WORKPLACE
This is a remote worksite position. Candidates should be prepared for extended rotations away from home and the realities of working in an oilfield/remote environment. Rotation, travel arrangements, accommodations, compensation, and specific worksite requirements will be discussed with qualified candidates.
