The Cook in a Rig camp is there to prepare the meals and provide direction to kitchen support staff.

Core Responsibilities:

- Daily participation in site safety requirements and meetings
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly safety documentation
- Maintain personal hygiene & uniform cleanliness and requirements throughout shift as per standards
- Responsible for meal preparation, production strategy, assigning duties/workloads of kitchen staff
- Submit daily reports and meal sheets
- Supervise all staff involved in the preparation and serving of meals
- Oversee, participate in and be responsible for the handling, preparation, production, and timely service of all meals, including mains, salads, sandwiches, breakfast, baking etc. depending on size of the rig, and in accordance with the methods and standards as per HACCP guidelines.
- Responsible for weekly grocery ordering.
- Monitor consumables as required
- Unload, store and rotate stock according to HACCP and company approved methods.
- Store and use leftover foods according to HACCP and company approved methods.
- Ensure kitchen and work areas are clean and sanitized at all times.
- Ensure that food spoilage and waste are kept to a minimum.
- Ensure that prepared and stored foods are kept at appropriate temperatures
- Supervise production and the loading and organization rig boxes
- Unloading/loading of weekly grocery truck deliveries
- Serving of hot food items at mealtimes
- Supervision of housekeeping staff to ensure all company standards, and client requirements are being met
- Assisting with set up/tear down of camp
- Perform weekly/monthly inventories as directed/required.
- Wear required uniform and PPE: approved kitchen shirt and pants,



slip resistant footwear (listed as non-slip or slip & oil resistant on shoe), hair net &/or headwear (beanie)

Any other duties as assigned by site supervisor

Education and Experience:

- Journeyman Certification or equivalent designation and or related experience greater than 5 years
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Literate in the English language with reading and writing competency
- Proficient with computer awareness & use
- Remote Camp experience is an asset & preferred
- Awareness & ability to operate all industrial kitchen equipment (incl. grills, ovens, fryers, mixers, etc)

Personal Profile:

- Physically fit and able to handle lifting up to 50lbs, bending and standing for extended periods of time
- Professional client & co-worker relations
- Solid leadership with patience and a desire to lead

Certification Requirements:

- Journeyman Cook designation or equivalent designation and or related experience greater than 5 years
- Valid Provincially recognized Advanced Food Safe

- WHMIS
- First Aid, Standard (2 day course)
- Skill specific training is an asset
