One of our clients, Robokido is looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about inspiring children through robotics, coding, AI, engineering, and hands-on STEM learning. This is an ideal opportunity for university students, aspiring educators, newcomers to Canada, and professionals who want to gain classroom experience while receiving structured training. Similar GTA STEM outreach programs emphasize mentor training and hands-on teaching support for volunteers.

Position summary

As a Volunteer STEM Teacher, you will complete Robokido's instructor training program and assist in delivering engaging robotics and coding classes for children ages 4–17. You'll gradually progress from classroom assistant to independently leading activities under mentorship.

Responsibilities

Assist instructors during robotics, coding, AI, and engineering classes.

Guide students through robotics, beginner programming, and creative STEM projects.

Encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity in a positive learning environment.

Help prepare, organize, and maintain classroom equipment and materials including training content development.

Support camps, after-school programs, workshops, and community events.

Participate in instructor training sessions and teaching observations.

Provide a safe, inclusive, and encouraging experience for every student.

Robokido provides

Volunteer reference letter upon successful completion of the program.

Opportunity to transition into a paid instructor position based on performance and availability.

Qualifications

Passion for working with children and education.

Interest in STEM, robotics, coding, or technology.

No teaching experience required — training is provided.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Reliable, qualified, and eager to learn.

Must be eligible to volunteer in Ontario.

Preferred (not required)

Experience with LEGO Education, Scratch, Python, Arduino, or robotics.

Background in education, engineering, computer science, or related fields.

Multilingual abilities are an asset.

Time commitment

Programs run weekdays, evenings, weekends, and school holidays.

Flexible scheduling available across Toronto and the GTA.

Ontario volunteer requirements

Volunteers working directly with children in Ontario schools or ongoing youth programs are commonly required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or other police screening before beginning classroom activities.

Expected hours: 3.0 – 8.0 per week
