Job Requirements
Education:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- 1 year to less than 2 years of commercial driving experience is required.
- Experience operating a heavy dump truck on active construction sites or hauling aggregates is a strong asset.
Credentials and Licenses (Mandatory):
- Valid Ontario Class D or Class A commercial driver’s licence.
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
- Must be able to provide a clean Commercial Driver’s Abstract and CVOR for insurance purposes.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and Drive Heavy Vehicles: Safely operate heavy-duty dump trucks to transport loose materials such as gravel, sand, asphalt, and construction debris to and from various job sites, stockpiles, and quarries.
- Inspections and Maintenance: Perform mandatory pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck’s components, including tires, lights, steering, air brakes, and hydraulic lift mechanisms. Document and report any defects immediately.
- Cargo Management: Oversee the loading of aggregates to ensure axle weights are legally balanced. Operate the hydraulic tipping chassis to unload materials safely on active, uneven construction zones.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs (ELD or paper logbooks),
vehicle inspection reports, bills of lading, and delivery/scale tickets.
- Communication: Coordinate effectively with dispatchers, site foremen, and heavy equipment operators via two-way radio or mobile apps to maintain tight delivery schedules.
