Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Safety Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe working environment by developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and policies. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong training development skills and have experience in fabrication processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with management to create and enforce safety policies and procedures that align with industry regulations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Facilitate safety meetings and workshops to promote awareness and encourage employee participation in safety initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to workplace safety.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory authorities such as WorkSafe BC, Canadian regulators, and BCCSA COR safety program
- Be a part of the TMMP Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committee.
Skills
- Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in construction safety, or operations.
- Experience conducting comprehensive safety audits and incident investigations.
- Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as Avetta, BCCSA, WorkSafe BC, and Employment Standards.
- Strong proficiency with Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Degrees, diplomas, or relevant designations (CSO, CRSP, etc.) are considered an asset.
- Ability to work extended hours during peak construction seasons and critical reporting periods.
- Availability for on-call duties to respond to safety-related emergencies.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Proven analytical skills with the capability to interpret data and implement solutions to enhance workplace safety.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent).
