Sin Bin Source for Sports is a locally owned sporting-goods retailer located in the heart of Sherwood Park. We specialize in hockey, baseball/softball, ringette, lacrosse and football. We pride ourselves on providing knowledgeable, personalized service to our customers.

We're looking for a Hockey & Sporting Goods Sales Associate to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys hockey, understands the culture, and wants to turn that knowledge into a career in sporting-goods retail.

The Role

You'll be working directly with our sales team to assist customers and help them find the right equipment and products for their needs. The ideal candidate is someone who can have a knowledgeable conversation about hockey gear, while also providing friendly, professional customer service.

You don't need to know everything about every product when you start. We're looking for someone with a strong foundation of hockey knowledge, a willingness to learn, and the personality to build relationships with customers.

Responsibilities

- Provide knowledgeable, friendly and personalized customer service
- Develop a strong understanding of hockey equipment, including sticks, skates, protective equipment, gloves, helmets and accessories
- Help customers select equipment based on their age, skill level, position, playing style and budget
- Perform skate, stick, and protective equipment fittings
- Maintain product knowledge across major hockey and sporting-goods brands
- Receive and replenish merchandise and maintain organized sales-floor displays
- Process sales, returns and exchanges accurately
- Assist with inventory counts and general store operations
- Keep the sales floor clean, organized and presentable
- Build relationships with customers and contribute to a positive store experience
- Work as part of a team to achieve store goals

What We're Looking For

Required:

- Strong knowledge of hockey and hockey equipment
- Genuine interest in hockey and sport
- Excellent customer-service and communication skills




- Comfortable talking to customers and making product recommendations
- Reliable, punctual and dependable
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong assets:

- Previous sporting-goods or retail experience
- Previous experience fitting skates or protective equipment
- Experience playing, coaching, officiating or working within hockey
- Knowledge of major hockey brands and equipment technologies
- Previous experience with point-of-sale systems or inventory management

Shift details: 7-8 hour shifts

Work days

Monday to Saturday

Store Hours

11am-6pm Monday, Tuesday, Friday

11am-7pm Wednesday, Thursday

10am-5pm Saturday

Who Will Succeed in This Role?

The ideal candidate isn't necessarily the person with the longest retail resume.

We're looking for someone who knows hockey, enjoys helping people, takes pride in doing things properly, and wants to become an expert in sporting-goods retail.
