Senior Accounts Payable Specialist, 9-Month Contract

Location: Etobicoke, ON, Hybrid, 2 to 3 days on-site per week

Compensation: $30 to $35/hour T4

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established organization in the retail sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team for a 9-month contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent opportunity.

This is a hands-on role supporting a centralized Accounts Payable function across multiple brands and a diverse portfolio of merchandise and non-merchandise vendors. You’ll work closely with the Controller, Senior Accountant and Junior AP Specialist in a small, collaborative team where you can take ownership and make an immediate impact.

Your Responsibilities

- You’ll manage full-cycle Accounts Payable activities within a high-volume, multi-brand environment.
- You’ll review and process merchandise and non-merchandise invoices accurately and efficiently.
- You’ll coordinate vendor payments, including EFT, ACH, wires and cheques.




- You’ll reconcile vendor accounts, investigate discrepancies and resolve invoice and payment issues.
- You’ll support month-end and year-end activities, including reconciliations and audit requirements.
- You’ll work directly with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve inquiries and maintain strong relationships.
- You’ll contribute to AP process improvements and effective internal controls.

Skills and Qualifications

- 4+ years of progressive, full-cycle Accounts Payable experience.
- Hands-on Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience is required .
- Strong experience with invoice processing, vendor reconciliations and payment runs.
- Experience in a high-volume workplace, with retail or a similar multi-vendor environment considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
