The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Senior Commercial Litigation Associate (5+ years' call) to join its litigation group. The successful candidate will bring a broad and varied commercial litigation background, with particular strength in labour and employment matters, and will be comfortable taking on files with significant complexity and mentoring junior lawyers along the way. This role offers meaningful responsibility, direct client contact, and the opportunity to lead files that draw on several areas of commercial litigation at once.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage complex commercial litigation files from commencement through resolution, including files that intersect multiple practice areas.
- Draft pleadings, motion materials, affidavits, factums, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct examinations for discovery, attend mediations, pre-trials, motions, and court appearances.
- Advise clients on litigation strategy, liability, risk assessment, and commercial resolution options.
- Take a leading role on labour and employment litigation matters, alongside broader commercial disputes.
- Mentor and supervise junior associates and clerks on file strategy, drafting, and advocacy.
- Work collaboratively with senior partners on sophisticated,



multi-faceted litigation matters.
- Prepare witnesses and clients for discoveries, mediations, and trial.
- Maintain regular, skilled communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
- Deliver practical, timely, and business-focused legal advice.

Qualifications
- Called to the Ontario Bar with 5+ years of call.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Broad commercial litigation experience across a variety of practice areas, with demonstrated experience in labour and employment litigation.
- Strong drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills.
- Proven experience independently managing complex files from inception to resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior lawyers.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities across a varied caseload.
