The client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst capable of working independently on a large-scale, multi-year program (approximately $12 million over 3 years) in individual insurance, replacing a resource already working on a launched program.
The environment is agile, matrix, multi-team, and under development: the individual must progressively structure a complex requirement without being dictated to, and produce just the right amount of analysis at the right time to support incremental delivery.
The role is distinct from the Product Owner, who retains scope decisions at the story level, and the PM, who retains them at the feature level: the Business Analyst contributes to the backlog at both levels, without making the final decision. A background in individual insurance (life, health, disability, annuities) is crucial for integration, as the products, business rules, and claims processes differ from property and casualty insurance.
Knowledge of claims is a recognized asset, fully satisfied by individual insurance claims (disability, death, critical illness), and partially by property and casualty insurance claims.
Requirements
Requirement
- Formal Senior AA role, with documented AA deliverables
- Analyze and document requirements, features, business rules, and acceptance criteria
- Autonomy in an agile,
product, matrix, and ambiguous setting
- Experience on large-scale, multi-team programs
- Populate the backlog with the PO and PM, at both levels (features and stories)
- Contribute to test scenarios and UAT
Desired
- Sector immersion in individual or personal insurance (life, health, disability, annuities)
- Quickly learn a field and build credibility with stakeholders
Asset
- Knowledge of claims, ideally in individual insurance (disability, death, critical illness)
WHAT WE DON'T WANT
- Insurance experience limited to property and casualty insurance (auto, home), with no exposure to personal or life insurance.
- Years of experience since starting an IT role, with the initial years spent in business support, coordination, or functional expert roles, without documented formal business analyst mandates.
- Profile where analytical experience has been gained as a Product Owner or Project Manager, without full-fledged business analyst mandates.
- Certifications or ongoing training presented as completed, without a certificate on file.
- Experience limited to targeted projects (migration, standalone implementation), with no exposure to a large-scale, multi-team program.
