Senior Data Engineer (Developer DBA)

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Developer DBA to join their technology team. This is an 80% database development and 20% data engineering role, ideal for a hands-on technical professional with strong Oracle, SQL/PLSQL, data modeling, and database performance experience.

You’ll act as a Database SME across multiple projects , contributing to solution design, development, optimization, and full implementation in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop logical/physical data models and database schemas.
- Develop and optimize SQL/PLSQL, packages, procedures, and database objects.
- Troubleshoot and improve database performance, scalability, and efficiency.
- Support ELT processes and data pipelines using tools such as Talend, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Develop database automation and scripting using Bash.
- Support cloud and database modernization initiatives across private cloud, Azure, and Oracle OCI.
- Research and resolve complex database issues and recommend technical solutions.




- Manage multiple projects and priorities while delivering high-quality solutions.

Required Qualifications

- 8–12 years of experience in database development, Developer DBA, or data engineering roles.
- Solid hands-on experience with Oracle 19c/23ai and Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCC).
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development experience.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, schema design, normalization, and relational databases.
- Proven database performance tuning and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Bash or similar scripting languages.
- Experience developing ELT processes and data pipelines.
- Experience with Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, and/or Talend.
- Understanding of cloud technologies, particularly Azure and/or Oracle OCI.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a high-pressure environment.

Nice to Have

- FinTech or financial services experience.
- Automated database deployment / database DevOps experience.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud migration or modernization initiatives.
