Position Title: Senior Development Officer Reporting Relationship : Vice President, Development Organization Description : JUMP Math is a Canadian charity with global reach that empowers teachers and educators to multiply the potential in every classroom through research-informed, curriculum-aligned resources and approaches that ignite and nurture an enduring understanding and love of math in every student. Reporting to the Vice President of Development and working closely with the CEO and Founder, the Senior Development Officer (SDO) is responsible for building a pipeline of major gifts ($5K or more) prospects to secure funding to support JUMP Math’s mission to create a more numerate and equitable society through mathematics education. This is a full-time role with perks.

Participates in and supports the development of program priorities/campaign catalogue of opportunities for donors and prospects • Co-develops and implements a targeted strategy to increase revenue from medium to high-net-worth individuals and organizations • Works with the senior leadership to identify potential funder opportunities to reach and/or exceed annual fundraising goals and targets Builds and maintains strong, long-term relationships with major donors, including regular meetings, personalized communications, and appropriate recognition activities.
- Collaborates with partners to create and execute tailored stewardship plans to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of major donors,
ensuring gifts are handled and recognized according to JUMP Math policies and practices • Work with the development team to ensure that acknowledgements, tax receipts, invitations, and other correspondence are sent in a timely manner Strategic Planning & Reporting • Collaborates with the VP Development, the CEO and Founder to establish goals and strategies for major gift fundraising efforts • Utilizes organizational database to track and report on all contacts with major gift donors and prospects Utilizes data and analytics to prioritize and strategize outreach efforts for maximum impact Works closely with the development team to align major gift strategies with broader fundraising efforts and organizational goals • Exceptional communication, writing, negotiation, and presentation skills • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of colleagues and build new and long-term relationships with prospects and donors • Customer relationship management software skills • Tact, diplomacy, judgment, and the ability to analyse and problem solve • Creative abilities to be resourceful, cost-efficient and intuitively driven Personal Attributes:
- Adaptable/flexible • or equivalent work experience in fundraising, non-profit/charity sector or sales/revenue generation in the private sector • 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing 5-7 figure gifts or corporate partnerships • Demonstrated success in building and nurturing relationships with medium to high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and/or corporations.
- Experience with donor/prospect data management systems • A passion for education and the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and learners • CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive designation) would be an asset but is not a requirement
