As part of the growth of its insurance litigation practice in Montreal, a nationally established business law firm is seeking a senior lawyer to join its team. The firm advises insurers, businesses, financial institutions and organizations in complex disputes and strategic claims matters.

The Role

As an Insurance Law Lawyer, you will work on complex matters involving insurance coverage, civil liability, major losses and commercial litigation related to the insurance industry.

You will play a strategic role in file management, client relationships and the growth of the practice while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across Canada.

Responsibilities

- Advise insurers, businesses and institutions on complex insurance law matters
- Handle litigation involving coverage disputes, civil liability and major losses
- Develop and lead litigation strategies tailored to client needs
- Draft legal proceedings, opinions and strategic correspondence
- Represent clients before judicial and administrative tribunals
- Participate in negotiations, mediations and strategic settlements




- Collaborate with experts and specialized stakeholders
- Maintain direct client relationships and act as a strategic advisor
- Participate in business development and the visibility of the practice
- Mentor junior lawyers when required

Requirements

- Member in good standing of the Québec Bar
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in insurance law or civil and commercial litigation
- Significant experience in complex litigation matters
- Strong strategic, legal drafting and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage files autonomously
- Strategic judgment, rigor and strong prioritization skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Solution-oriented and client-service mindset
- Collaborative and entrepreneurial approach
- Bilingualism in French and English
