PKF Antares is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our Calgary tax practice. This role is designed for a developing tax professional who is ready to take ownership of increasingly complex Canadian tax files, work directly with managers and partners and build solid client relationships. You will contribute to compliance and advisory engagements while supporting junior team members and continuing to deepen your technical expertise.

Responsibilities

· Prepare and review complex Canadian corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), partnership and information returns, as assigned, including cross-border engagements.

· Prepare tax provisions, working papers, supporting schedules, elections and other compliance documentation accurately and on time.

· Research Canadian tax issues and prepare concise technical summaries, memoranda and recommendations for manager or partner review.

· Support corporate reorganizations, owner-manager planning, remuneration strategies, estate and succession planning and cross-border engagements.

· Analyze notices of assessment and reassessment and draft responses to CRA review letters, information requests and audit queries.

· Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information, explain requirements, resolve outstanding matters and provide status updates.

· Identify tax risks, filing issues, planning opportunities and unusual transactions and escalate them appropriately.

· Coordinate engagement status, deadlines, budgets, time records and file documentation.

· Coach junior staff, review selected work and contribute to internal training and process improvements.

Qualifications

- · A Canadian CPA designation, or substantial progress toward completion of the designation, is an asset.

· Three to five years of Canadian tax experience, including experience in a public accounting firm.



· Strong experience preparing Canadian corporate and personal income tax returns and related working papers.

· Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business or a related discipline.

· Ability to research tax matters, interpret legislation and CRA guidance and document conclusions clearly.

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines during peak filing periods.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with clients, colleagues and government agencies.

· Professional judgment, initiative, attention to detail, confidentiality and commitment to client service.

· Legal eligibility to work in Canada.

Preferred Experience

· Exposure to trusts, partnerships, corporate reorganizations, estate planning or cross-border taxation.

· Experience with TaxCycle, Profile, CaseWare, QuickBooks or comparable tax and accounting platforms.

· Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

· Interest in using automation, analytics and AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve tax research, documentation and workflows.
