Position Overview

Walker Wellhead is looking for a dependable and safety-focused Wellhead & Valve Teardown Technician. This position is responsible for safely disassembling used wellhead and valve equipment in preparation for cleaning, inspection, repair, and remanufacturing.

The successful candidate will be mechanically inclined, comfortable working with heavy oilfield equipment, and able to follow established safety and shop procedures.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely disassemble wellhead components, gate valves, casing heads, tubing heads, spools, adapters, and related equipment.
- Use hand tools, impact tools, hydraulic tools, pipe wrenches, presses, and lifting equipment.
- Remove bonnets, gates, stems, seats, seals, packing, flange studs, lockscrews, fittings, and other internal components.
- Identify and tag equipment and parts during teardown.
- Keep components organized to prevent parts from being mixed or lost.
- Inspect equipment for obvious damage, corrosion, erosion, wear, or missing components.
- Record equipment condition and teardown findings on work orders.
- Assist with degreasing, steam cleaning, scraping, and preparing parts for inspection.
- Safely handle equipment that may contain trapped pressure, grease, fluids, scale, or residue.
- Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, forklifts, and material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, hazard assessments, and lockout requirements.
- Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, and quality concerns to the Shop Supervisor.
- Assist other shop departments when required.

Qualifications





- Mechanical, oilfield, valve, wellhead, or shop experience is preferred.
- Previous experience tearing down wellhead or valve equipment is an asset.
- Ability to safely use hand, pneumatic, and power tools.
- Ability to read work orders, equipment tags, and basic drawings.
- Forklift and overhead-crane experience is an asset.
- Physically capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling heavy components with proper lifting equipment.
- Robust attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to work in a dirty, greasy, and physically demanding shop environment.
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required.

Key Assets

- Experience with API 6A equipment.
- Current Forklift and Overhead Crane certifications.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic torque and high-pressure testing units.
- Valid Driver’s License.
