The Stamping Technologist will be responsible for developing and optimizing stamping processes for automotive body-structure components and steel battery enclosure parts. Support new-project feasibility reviews, process planning, die design reviews, tryouts, commissioning, production launches, and ramp-up.
- Establish stamping process parameters, standard operating procedures, inspection requirements, and technical documentation.
- Analyze and resolve stamping defects, including cracking, wrinkling, springback, splitting, scratching, dents, burrs, and dimensional deviations.
- Work closely with Tooling, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Engineering teams to resolve process and production issues.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement containment, corrective, and preventive actions using 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D, and other problem-solving tools.
- Optimize press parameters, die conditions, lubrication, material flow, cycle time, scrap rate, and material utilization.
- Monitor stamping process capability and production performance and implement continuous improvement actions.
- Participate in product and engineering change reviews and coordinate the required process and tooling modifications.
- Support equipment and die capability studies, trial production, dimensional validation, and customer sample submissions.
- Prepare and maintain process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, work instructions,
parameter sheets, and technical reports.

- Strong knowledge of sheet-metal forming, stamping presses, progressive dies, transfer dies, or large stamping dies.
- Experience troubleshooting common stamping defects and optimizing forming processes.
- Ability to interpret product drawings, die drawings, GD&T; requirements, material specifications, and dimensional reports.
- Familiarity with high-strength steel and automotive body-structure manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem-solving.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, CATIA, NX, AutoForm, or other relevant engineering and forming-simulation software is an asset.
- Robust analytical,
hands-on problem-solving, project coordination, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Good English communication skills and the ability to prepare technical documents and reports.
- Ability to support shifts, overtime, weekends, and travel when required during project launches.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Key to being successful in this role:
- Experience with an automotive Tier 1 supplier or large stamping manufacturer.
- Experience with steel battery enclosures, automotive body structures, or structural safety components.
- Experience with 1,500 MPa high-strength steel forming and springback control.
- Knowledge of automated press lines, robotic material handling, and die-change systems.
- Mandarin-English bilingual communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and tooling as required.
- Ability to work around stamping presses, production machinery, noise, and manufacturing equipment.
