JOB POSTING: TRANSPORT TRUCK DRIVER (CLASS 1)

Salary/Wage: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour (Depending on experience)
Schedule: 45 - 55 hours per week (Day shifts and scheduled regional runs)

We are seeking a dependable, professional Class 1 Truck Driver to join our team and support local and regional hauling initiatives.
Job Summary
The Class 1 Truck Driver will be responsible for operating and driving transport trucks to move goods, materials, and equipment safely across local and regional northern Alberta routes. The successful candidate will ensure strict adherence to safety standards, National Safety Code (NSC) compliance, and cargo security protocols while maintaining excellent communication with dispatch and community management.
Core Responsibilities
- Operate and drive transport trucks (semi-trailers, flatbeds, or utility haulers) safely and efficiently across local and regional gravel and paved routes.
- Secure, strap, chain, and tarp cargo properly before and during transit to prevent shifting or damage.
- Conduct daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems, including brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels.
- Maintain accurate electronic logging device (ELD) records, driver logbooks, and transport documents (bills of lading, delivery receipts).
- Report any mechanical defects, delays, or safety hazards immediately to maintenance and dispatch.
- Communicate professionally with community members, band administrative staff, and external logistics partners.
- Comply strictly with Alberta transportation regulations, federal hours-of-service (HOS) limits, and community safety bylaws.
Qualifications & Experience:
- License Requirement: Valid Alberta Class 1 Driver’s License (or equivalent) with a clean commercial driver's abstract.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of professional commercial truck driving experience, preferably navigating northern Alberta winter roads and gravel routes.
- Certifications: Current Air Brake (Q) endorsement is mandatory. Safety certifications such as First Aid, H2S Alive, or CSTS are considered strong assets.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) and smartphone-based routing/dispatch applications.
- Core Skills: Exceptional spatial awareness, defensive driving skills, and the physical stamina required for securing loads and long driving blocks.
- Cultural Competency: Strong understanding of, or willingness to learn about, First Nations communities and culture. Ability to speak or understand the Cree language is a valuable asset.
